TAC - Q & As

  • I frequently use a "9/10" scoring system. Can I still use this in TAC?

Yes! Here's how: When you define the individual assignment, enter a 10 (or 5, or whatever the total number of questions is) in the field where it asks for points (in our training, this is where we said to always enter 100.) Then, if you enter an 8 (for 8 out of 10) when you score that assignment, TAC will automatically convert it to a percentage!

  • Teachers are unable to enter grades for students that have made schedule changes. The area to enter a grade is grayed out. What do I do?

In order to add grades for a student that has recently been rescheduled (withdrawn) from the class and moved to another class, the end-user must:
From the home page click score
· On the top right-hand corner of the scores page, click the down arrow that says “show withdrawn students”.
o Alphabetical (this puts all active and inactive students in alphabetical order and allows the end-user to enter a grade for those tasks assigned prior to the student’s removal from the class.
o Grouped- this option shows all inactive students at the bottom of the class list and allows the end-user to enter grades for tasks assigned prior to the student’s removal from the class.

  • Why does the delete option disappear when grades/scores have been entered?

This is the design of the application. Once grades have been entered, eSchool preserves the integrity of the data entered by not allowing the end user to delete the record. This concept applies throughout the application.

3. When copying tasks from one class to another, do I check Q1, Q1 and Q2 or Q1-Q4?

If the task will be used throughout the school year, all of the quarters may be selected. If the task will only be used for a single quarter or any combination of quarters, the selection can be changed as needed.

  • I’m having problems trying to impersonate a teacher, should I enter “fcboe\” first?

When impersonating a teacher DO NOT enter “fcboe\” from the TAC login page, enter the username only.

  • I’m not seeing the Home Page after I log in to the Teacher Access Center (TAC), what should I do?

If the end-user is not seeing the home page upon logging in to the system, click on any one of the links on the menu to the left of the screen bar for the home page to appear.

  • How can I print a roster with a grid in TAC?

Go to List next to the class you would like and click on “Show Options” at the bottom of the page. Check the box next to “Display Grid” and select the amount of columns you would like to display. If you would like to add the dates to your grid check “Display Attendance Dates” and key in the start date for your grid. Click Report when you are done making your adjustments and you are ready to print.

  • What happens if I transfer to a new school? How do I get a grade book for my new school?

Grade books do not transfer from one school to another when a teacher transfers buildings. The old grade book is no longer valid in a new school environment. The teacher will have new rosters, schedules etc.,. The School Technology Specialist is expected to work with new teachers to ensure they have access to a new grade book.

  • When will email functionality be available in Teacher Access Center?

Email functionality is currently available in the teacher access center.

  • I am trying to make a change to a student's attendance, but it won't let me.

If the office takes attendance for a teacher or updates a tardy the teacher can no longer make a change to that record – teachers cannot override the office. If you must make a change but don’t have access, please send the note to Kathy and she will update eSchool and put the note back in your box. You must keep the note as documentation. Be sure the note clearly states the student’s name, absence reason, and date of absence.
